Around 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; authorities are not yet informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they added.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the residents for details.
An important political figure stated the vandalism rendered him stunned and had to be resolved promptly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
